Review of Logan

“WOW, what a Perfect movie” is what I thought to myself as I wiped the tears from my eyes walking out of the cinema at 2 am. I have honestly never seen such an incredible fusion of action, drama, sci-fi madness and pure emotion in a movie. In my opinion, Logan is the greatest superhero movie ever and one of the greatest movies in years.

This film has everything going for it, let’s start with acting, Hugh Jackman’s performance is fantastic he manages to capture the pain of the ageing Logan while managing to portray the unbridled rage of the wolverine who is caring for the elderly professor Charles Xavier.

Sir Patrick Stewart’s performance is yet again outstanding, he is fully able to show the struggle of an old man who is now not only lost the use of his legs but is also now losing control of his whole body. Between the two you full feel the pain of two of the last living mutants.

Dafne Keen’s portrayal of Laura aka X-23 is truly flawless for such a young actress she masterfully acts the role of a withdrawn child while managing to show the pure animalistic rage that comes with the powers.

These three demonstrate the full range of emotion the rage, anger, sorrow, despair and joy and you feel each one you are fully immersed in the adventure, their journey becomes ours. While the drama and story is fully explored in this film it really doesn’t lack for action.

This is the first R-rated wolverine film and it really pays off the fighting style and the lethality of the wolverine is properly displayed and there is some really shocking and impressive fight scenes. For all the success of the MUC movies, I honestly feel they will struggle to match this. Logan is easily the best comic book movie I have ever seen easily standing as tall as Iron man, Spider-man 2 and Doctor Strange.

This film is the perfect send off to Hugh Jackman’s wolverine and Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, this is a film that should win awards and honestly should be considered the standard on how to make a superhero movie that has a heartfelt driven story that in the space of 1 minute can make your audience go OH! With the action and then cry with the emotion.

This is a solid 10/10
