Suicide Squad Movie Review

On Friday the 5th I like thousands of other people went to see the highly anticipated Suicide Squad. As a superhero (or in this case villain) movie fan and occasional comic book reader I had high hopes, but keep an open mind.
This movie an exciting oddity with Magic and misfits and comedy and action, it had its highs and like near all movies it had its lows. Margo Robbie's Harley Quinn is a sadistically psychotic as possible  and makes you believe that the joker isn't the craziest person in the room, Leto' joker is truly insane and completely unpredictable. However, I will wait for his next appearance for the true verdict on this take on the joker.
Viola Davis's Amanda Waller is portrayed as a cold-hearted near evil woman who will do anything to protect her nation and world. Cara Delevingne manages to pull off the possessive otherworldly witch and the reclusive tortured young woman who wishes her torment to end
Despite a barrage of bad reviews that only got progressively worse, I liked the tone of the movie and action-packed comedy was great the point suicide squad was meant to be fun and that is what it is In my opinion. My personal rating is 8/10.
The reasons I liked it so much are numerous; it is like David Ayer ripped Harley Quinn, Amanda Waller, El Diablo and Enchantress out of the comic books. the acting and writing for these characters were near flawless.
This film makes you care about the characters, You see Deadshot as a man who, despite his bravado, only has one concern his daughter. you see El Diablo as a man ashamed by his past afraid of the harm he could cause.
The film uses interesting methods to Quickly introduce new characters to the audience most of which have never been used on the big screen. The action in this film is exciting and is indispersed with comedic moments most from Harley Quinn or the beer chugging Captain boomerang.
This film isn't afraid to jump straight into magic and unexplainable things, unlike marvel, considering what Ayer had to work with its is a great comic book adaptation and easily one of the best movies this year.
I am not saying the film doesn't have flaws it does but they have explanations;
Some characters have little to no backstory or story arc, However, remember this is only the third movie in the DCEU. David Ayer didn't have a movie for each main character to set them up, the fact Ayer manages to create depth and empathy for some characters with some flashbacks is a great achievement (imagine if the first 30 minutes to avengers assemble was introductions to Thor, Iron Man and Captain America).
The plot wasn't the strongest and the villain was generic, but that is true for many movies and really isn't the biggest thing for me personally. There was an issue marketing was wrong they oversold the importance of the joker misleading some audience members.
There were scenes cut and reshot, it sounds like Warner brothers have done what they did with Batman v superman and taken a hatchet to the director's vision of what the film should be. hopefully, there will be an ultimate edition that would restore the cut scenes. This is also partly the reason for me not being sure on Leto's Joker since he wasn't in the movie enough due to seen cuts.
This is just my opinion and it is likely, going by the spectra of reviews, that you will disagree with some if not all points in my review. I just hope you see the film for yourself and make up your own mind.

I was happy with this movie well worth the price of the ticket and the reviews beg the question why was the film generate so divisive?
