Titans, truly good, challenge for the CW, yet wonders behind Daredevil season 3.

This is a Short review of Titans season 1

8.5/10 loses steam towards end but sets up an intriguing season 2.

The acting in this show is very good with a good casting for each role. The fight work Is impressive as is most of the CGI.

The thing that really takes the cake is the portrayal of the respective abilities of each Titan. Dick Grayson is a very very skilled combatant clearly able to take on 10 plus armed combatants single handed, and take on superpowered combatants with relative ease showing that despite being just human and relatively early in his career as a superhero, still being Robin, he fits into the world of superpowers and magic and doesn't look out of place. Something the DCEU, the CW universe and MCU have all struggled in some cases failed to do.

The Portrayal of Raven's abilities are what impress me the most, magic in general are hard to portray especially when they are as weird as Raven's. The use of CGI to show her Soul self is very good and her use of it in fights is also good.

The use of CGI it's self is well done or excusable when a bit uncanny vally. This show should really be compared to the recently cancelled, and soon to be cancelled, Netflix MCU shows and their level of CGI is far less, in scope and need. Hell in Jessica Jones she jumps off screen because they can't afford good enough CGI and unfortunately with characters like Beast boy, Starfire and Raven CGI is imperative, the latter 2 having generally good CGI.

The Story itself is very engrossing, it carries at a very quick pace, us in the UK are able to watch all 11 episodes at once which speeds up the feeling even more. However this ability to binge the show does have its down side as the show does slow down in the final 3 episodes and if you've just watched the previous 8 within a day or 2 the change is rather sharp.

Overall its a good show that, if it stays the course, could match many of the CW and marvel counterparts. I've said time and again that the CW excels in it's crossovers and with Doom patrol following soon and Swamp thing to possibly join the fray it could out do the CW on the shared universe front, dare I say it but could provide a second life line to the DCEU who is desperately but, thanks to Aquaman, not hopelessly fighting to survive.
